Google reportedly plans to start payment service to rival PayPal

It appears as though Google will be launching a new payment processing service. It’s about time - everyone trusts Google (for the most part) and for most of us who are involved in building websites gives us another option over PayPal. Trust is the critical element when purchasing online and the majority of people who purchase online probably trust Google more than PayPal.

Google is calling their payment service micropayments and should prove to be a boon for both them and us as webmasters. The addition of this service could prove to steal marketshare away from eBay and PayPal. PayPal accounted for $233.1 million, or 23 percent, of eBay’s revenue during the first quarter.
